The Proposal

Just about six weeks ago, the Sisterhood pulled off our best act yet to stage a surprise wedding proposal for Tay by her Boyfriend.

At first, the initial plan by him was to just have a couple of girlfriends to help him. But unfortunately, none of us wants to miss out on the action and the whole group turned up.

To meet his request of proposing at sunrise on a beach, the Sisterhood decided to book a room at the lovely Siloso Beach Resort at Sentosa, to "celebrate the birthday of the June babies". Then, it took us quite a while to work out how to get the sleepyhead Tay out of bed before sunrise to the beach.

The non-birthday girls got her to think that we were planning a surprise treasure hunt for the June babies at sunrise at the beach (cos any later, the beach would be occupied by people). It worked. She was very enthusiastic.

Her Boyfriend appeared in a suit at sunrise. The rest of us crept away. While we couldn't hear what they were saying, we were trying to peep at them. But they were blocked by a board and we could only see their feet. They talked for so long that we thought she has rejected him. In disappointment, we started to walk back to our room, until we saw she was lifted off the ground.

We cheered and lighted sparklers and blew soap bubbles in celebration as she walked back with the gleaming diamond ring on her finger. Feelings of elation were all around and we congratulated ourselves at pulling off the surprise.

He graciously paid for the room and bought us breakfast at the resort. I must say he has scored high in our books. Remember my Handbook for the Boyfriend? He passed and exceeded our expectations by trusting us with his proposal.

So, our friends are starting to get married. And having babies! The rest of us, please don't be pressured. Get hitched only when you feel that the time is right. I am an advocate of freedom of marriage. So stop asking me when I'm getting married simply because it's about time. I can get married at 50 if I want to! (Although two different fortune tellers told my mum that I'll be married in two years' time *shudders*)

Anyway, congratulations to the couple! We're looking forward to plan the wedding :D
